Lemnos started out life in 1947 as a brass casting manufacturer. This lasted 19 years until in 1966 Lemnos were approached by the Seiko Clock Company, asking them to start manufacturing clocks for them.
In 1980 Seiko asked Lemnos to have an involvement in the design and development stages of the clock and this is when the Lemnos brand was recognised for the design and manufacture of clocks.
The clock that made Lemnos the brand they are today was HOLA clock, designed byKazuo Kawasaki and released into the market in 1989. The Hola clock was a stunning success and 1000s were sold, making Lemnos a well-known brand of clocks in Japan. After the success of the Hola clock, Lemnos then decided to collaborate with a handful of renowned Japanese product designers who are active through Japan and in other countries so that they could create a new large range of clocks to sell. These designers were Riki Wantanbe, Kazuo Kawasaki, Shin Azumi, Tomoko Azumi and Kanae Tsukamoto, amongst others. Once the team of designers had cerated the new collection, the new clocks were announced. Many of the clocks produced by Lemnos today were designed by these designers. In addition to the new range, designed by the great designers, Lemnos invited a world famous Architect, Andrea Branzi to design a special, limited edition clock for the collection.
Today the Lemnos brand is a prestigious and well-known brand which is growing rapidly to become a worldwide brand. Lemnos clocks are truly stunning in their design and the craftsmanship of their clocks is outstanding and you can tell that they are handmade, through the attention to detail. Lemnos Clocks are becoming known by Interior Designers and Architects, and if they aren’t we certainly recommend the brand for people who are looking for a very well finished and unique designer clock.
In recent years Lemnos have created some cool clocks which can be used as individual pieces in people’s homes, bars and restaurants, hotels and offices. These designer clocks are truly unique and timeless. You will not find anything similar in terms of looks and quality.
Some of our favourites of the Lemnos designer clocks are: The Awa Soso Wall Clock – we love this clock because it has a pleasant contrast between Scandinavian style wood and deep pastel colour. It is a reasonable size; not too big, nor too small, and comes in a selection of 4 colours; Green, Blue, Dark Grey or Orange. Another favourite is the Awa Gugu Wall Clock where the designer has made small but significant changes to the generalisation of clock design; they numbers are even as opposed to odd. The contrast between black and white is used very well and makes this clock stand out.
